Sun, sun, sun—here it comes!

And on 2nd August, it really did. The skies over West Wales delivered the goods for Lindsey & Rhys’ outdoor summer wedding at the beautiful Gellifawr Woodland Retreat near Fishguard in Pembrokeshire.

Waking up on your wedding day to sun pouring through the windows is always a relief—especially when you’ve planned your entire day outdoors. And this one? Was all about al fresco joy: dancing, dining and celebrating under festoon lights, with live music, rustic wooden details, and nothing but blue skies above.

Exclusive Wedding Village Vibes in West Wales

Nestled in the heart of the Pembrokeshire National Park, Gellifawr Woodland Retreat describes itself as a “wedding village,” and we couldn’t put it better. A cluster of cosy stone cottages, a charming main house, a wooden barn (perfect for signing the register and later serving drinks), and a maze of neatly kept shrubs—it’s an exclusive use venue with bags of personality and plenty of space to spread out and party.

The grounds are packed with photo-perfect corners: sweeping gravel paths (a win for dresses like Lindsey’s), glistening ponds, landscaped gardens, and backdrops of lush green hills. And yes—it’s dog friendly, which is always a massive tick in our books. Lindsey & Rhys brought their pooch, as did one of the bridesmaids, which made for some very cute moments on film.

Outdoor Wedding Ceremony in the Woodland Gardens

The ceremony took place beneath a handcrafted wooden arch wrapped in florals by The Dancing Daffodil—bursts of pinks and reds that tied perfectly with the bridesmaids’ dresses and the groomsmen’s Mark Darcy ties. Surrounded by mature trees, with the sun high and the hills rolling in the background, it was about as idyllic as it gets for Pembrokeshire wedding videography and photography.

After the ceremony, we stole Lindsey and Rhys away for a quiet moment in the landscaped garden. One of the perks of Gellifawr is how easy it is to find a little privacy, away from the party, to let our couples breathe, chat, and soak it all in—without distraction (but with a camera quietly capturing the magic, of course). They were total naturals.

Dining & Dancing Under the West Wales Sun

Aside from the indoor sit-down meal and speeches, the entire celebration happened outdoors. Guests basked in the sunshine all day, only popping inside for essential drink top-ups. The relaxed, festival-meets-garden-party vibe carried through seamlessly from day to night.

As the sun dipped low and golden hour lit up the courtyard, Polar Berries took to the stage with some brilliant foot-stomping fiddle music. Lindsey & Rhys shared their first dance outside, under the festoon lighting and the fading light of the day. The energy was incredible, the crowd was buzzing, and from that moment on, it was full-throttle party mode.

And yes—we absolutely got the moment where their cake topper read, “so the adventure begins.” Couldn’t have said it better.
